We’re excited to announce that project CobBauge has been selected as a finalist in this year’s RegioStars awards that recognise Europe’s most innovative, regional projects.

CobBauge promotes the construction of ‘cob’ houses in the Channel area by developing an innovative walling material using an ancient method of building from earth and fibres.
This material has been updated for modern construction, which will pass current thermal regulations and create energy efficient high-performance homes that people will find comfortable, healthier to live in and inexpensive to run. See more here.

CobBauge is a fine example of a high-quality project that can really make a difference both to people’s lives and the environment in the Channel area. Representatives from the project were presented with a certificate as finalists at a ceremony in Brussels this week.

DG RegioStars rewards the most original and innovative Cohesion Policy projects in five categories (CobBauge is in category 2):

  • promoting digital transformation;
  • connecting the green, blue and grey;
  • combatting inequalities and poverty;
  • building climate-resilient cities;
  • modernising health services.

Winners of each category will be announced on October 9 at a special event during the 2019 EU week of Cities and Regions in Brussels.  In addition, a People’s Choice award is decided by votes from the public from the 24 RegioStars finalists selected by the RegioStars jury. You can vote for CobBauge now with a simple click. Voting closes on September 9.

Project SB&WRC was recognised as a good example of a project co-financed by Cohesion Policy, and will be considered for publication on DG REGIO's online project database which is visited by people from Europe and beyond who are looking to learn more about best practice in the field of Regional Policy.
