A new video from Blueprint project highlights its ambition to support local authorities to transition to a circular economy, and the benefit it will bring to communities across the UK and France.

Blueprint is a cross-border collaboration aimed at transforming the way we all work together for a better future, bringing together local authorities, businesses, NGOs, schools and families from France and the UK to trial new approaches to a greener society.

The project is based on the principle of a circular economy, and has three key principles:

  1. It aims to design out waste and pollution
  2. Keep products and materials in use
  3. Works to restore nature systems and our environment

On this journey towards sustainability and zero waste, Blueprint’s latest initiative is the delivery of a Library of Things service across Essex, in cooperation with the Essex Library Service. Essex residents will be able to borrow items such as DIY tools, musical instruments or camping tools, exactly as in a book library.

Blueprint will help to create a model that other countries around the world can follow. The model will help local authorities to create waste management strategies, meet the EU’s recycling rate of 65% by 2035 and identify the potential jobs created by a circular economy.
