Duration 30.01.2018 - 29.04.2020 (27 months)

Description

The Micro-Project led by Al'Terre Breizh will develop a new mobile application that will encourage consumers to adopt more sustainable behaviours in relation to food consumption and waste management, helping them to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.

The app developed by COO-L Food will give consumers the choice of several food commitments such as ‘5 vegetarian meals a week’. Consumers will then be able to use the app to track their financial gains, carbon savings and reduced food wastage thanks to the ‘commitments’ they’ve made.

It’s currently estimated that a meal containing meat or fish has a carbon footprint of 2.5kg of CO2 compared to a vegetarian equivalent, which produces between 0.5-1kg of CO2.

The app will be trialled initially by over 1300 people with the app promoted at various food events in the UK and France including the Great Cornish Food Festival.
