Suffolk County Council is a local government administration organisation (with an annual budget of €580 million) which represents and provides public services to our 732,000 inhabitants. We are located in the East of England within 1 ½ hours from London St Pancras International, and 2 ½ hours from the Channel Tunnel.
Our county council has much experience with Interreg projects, including Answer, Cura-B, Cyberyouth, and Balance. In 2013 we won a national award for Innovation, and more recently were shortlisted for the Most Improved Council, which recognised our leadership on innovative practices. We are now analysing how smart technology innovations can meet key social challenges, such as the ageing population.
Suffolk’s economy focuses on the key sectors of: biotechnology, agritechnology, ICT, tourism, and renewable energy. The county has many strategic assets, such as the UK’s busiest container shipping port at Felixstowe, and one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms. Suffolk also aspires to be the Greenest County in the UK, which involves enhancing the natural environment and responding to climate change.
